⛏️ Catalhoyuk | Çatalhöyük

Catalhoyuk is an important archaeological settlement from the Neolithic period. It is located in the southeast of Turkey, near the city of Konya, in the district of Cumra. Catalhoyuk is one of the oldest settlements in human history and dates back approximately to 7500-5700 BCE.

🏞️ This ancient settlement has an irregular structure, with houses tightly packed together. The houses are generally made of mud brick and often lack windows in their walls. Most houses are accessed by ladders to the ceiling or by climbing from the outside. The inhabitants of Catalhoyuk were mostly hunter-gatherer communities who had not yet fully discovered agriculture.

⛏️ Excavations reveal that Catalhoyuk had a complex social structure and religious practices. The frescoes on the walls of the houses reflect the artistic and religious understanding of the time. Additionally, burial rituals and beliefs of the people have been uncovered during the excavations.
