Hereke Rugs Hereke rugs are woven in two ways: wool on cotton thread and silk on silk. Wool rugs have 3600 threads per dm². Its quality is called 60 x 60. In silk rugs, there are 10,000 threads per dm². Its quality is called 100 x 100. Even though there are more densely woven rugs, these are the standards of real Hereke Rugs. Pile heights are between 1.5 - 2.0 mm in silk Rugs and 4.0 - 5.0 mm in wool Rugs. Since Hereke Rugs are tightly woven, the patterns are quite detailed. Hereke Rugs are geographically registered with patents. Since Hereke Rugs are woven with a Turkish knot (called double knot or Gördes knot), they are much more durable than Persian Rugs (single knot or sinew knot).
